Lately, I have been loving heading down to Commercial Drive or just ‘The Drive’ in Vancouver. Now I know some people have been hanging out there for years, but some of us have been hanging out in the back woods!!!
I love going down there, it’s alive, full of energy, artists, cultural, outside patios and little store front markets which of course I love seeing the fresh food, but all of it. Living on the Sunshine Coast is great, I mean it’s beautiful here and so close to being on the ocean almost every day, but getting a little bit of different energy is always good too!! And the fresh food is oh so cheap.
This past Saturday, I had to go into to the city for a bit and of course I headed over to ‘the Drive’ where I got as much as I could carry, fresh food and I soaked in the atmosphere even to a quiet, while I was there at least, protest for the G8.
For me, I find that when I can find little ways to re-charge myself, get my creative juices flowing again, it’s always good. I come back refreshed. it’s always good to find the little ways to do that for yourself if no ‘big’ holiday is in the cards, squeeze some time out to re-charge yourself, you might be surprised at how good you feel!!
Healthy people find ways to unwind that build them up, not tear them down.
What could you do this week to do that for yourself??
This one is great and no one can tell that it is raw, even my husband likes it, actually he loves it!! It only takes a couple of minutes to blend this up in the blender and remember adjust things according to taste, this is just a guideline to go on, if you like more garlic, add more, or lemon or anything else, just make it so that you like it and enjoy it!!
Put all ingredients in a blender
2 stalks clery cut up 2 cloves of garlic squeeze juice of full lemon celtic sea salt & pepper to taste few flakes of dulse (optional but adds flavor 1/3 cup cold press olive oil 1/2 tbsp tahinni
These ingredients are optional as they aren’t raw, but I add a couple of drops to give it more flavor tabasco wortshire sauce (or tamari or nama shoyu) capers
Blend up to smooth and to your liking. Pour over romaine or any other kind of lettuce, eat and enjoy!!
Here is a recipe for raw croutons which are awesome!!

This is for thepeople who want to start adding more veggies into their diet, are vegetarian or who just aren’t 100% raw. This is also great for leftovers (if you made rice) to make for lunches for the next day or two.
This is how I made it, but there are no rules here, add any veggies you like or haven’t tried yet and lots of them!! Experiment and have fun!
Rice
chopped Spinach
chopped Chinese lettuce (or cabbage)
Tomatoes
Green Onions
Parsley
Cilantro
Black Olives (not from a can or jar those aren’t considered raw)
1-2 Garlic cloves minced
Tamari (or Namu Shoyu, Braggs or even Soya Sauce)
Olive Oil and I added some Hemp Oil to mine
Mix all together and enjoy. I always like eating mine with some chili peppers added in and avocado on the side.
Notice there are no measurements, just add a bunch of veggies and you can make a dressing out of these ingredients or one of your favorites and adjust to taste……you should enjoy what you are eating!!! You don’t need very much dressing though.
I decided to branch out and try one of my early morning Green Smoothies with Deandelion Greens since this is the time to do it. It’s Springtime, almost summer and Dandelions are in season. Now, I don’t know if I would go picking the ones in your yard unless you know they haven’t been sprayed at all, but you will find them at the Farmers Market and in the Grocery stores.
I put the whole bunch in the blender, just cut the bottoms, so I was using the green leaves.
– addapprox 1 in piece of giner, peeled and cut up
– squeezed one lemon in
– 1-2 bananas
– add some water, depending on the tickness you would like, if you like it thinner add more water, I sometimes throw in an ice cube or two to make it a little colder
Enjoy, you will find this Green Smoothie quite cleansing. Dandelion Greens have alot of nutrients, are cleansing, good for digestion, constipation and weight loss.
It’s good to mix up your greens and with these being in season, give it a try!!

I couldn’t find the original recipe for this one, so I made it off the top of my head last night for dinner, and it ended up tasting good, even my husband ate it!! (And no, he’s not a raw foodie, but will eat what I make and give me honest feed back!!!) I also need to get a good digtial camera instead of my little pocket one, you couldn’t tell I used to be a photograher with this one!!! lol Spaghetti Pie
3 Steps
– 6-8 carrots depending on the size cut up in chunks for the processor – 1 cup walnuts – 1-2 cloves garlice sea salt to taste squeeze of lemon juice – 1/4 cup water ( may need a little more adjust accordingly) Process together untila nice mixture, moist and smooth and put in bottom of glass pan
2-3 Avocados depending on size Mash into bowl and add sea salt, 1-2 cloves garlic and juice of 1/2 lemon Mix together, adjust to taste
Spread over carrot mixture in pan
Peel 2 – 3 Zucchinis and if you don’t have a spiroli to make pasta like noodles, any type of shredder will do (cheese shredder) to make a pasta like noodles from the zucchini Grate the zucchinis I don’t use the centers of the zucchini, I save those to mix in with other veggies for my dog, but you can if you like place the pasta like zuccini on top of the avaocado spread Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley or basil or cilantro or whatever else you would like, a little sprinkle of a nut cheese too is optional
If you want, you can add in herbs to the carrots mixture as well, play with it and always remember, when dealing with fresh, raw foods, the taste may change each time so experiment and don’t be afraid to add more salt or lemon or herbs or even less!! Enjoy

After making my last short video, I got this email from a friend……..hmmm….coincidence or synchronicity???? She didn’t know what I put in my video or that I even created one!! Anyways, I don’t know how much of this is true, I will test some of them, but that means then I have to buy some coke as I never have it around!! WHAT IF they are true…….do you really want to be putting this into your body????
WATER
#1.75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half the world population)
#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.
#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as 3%
#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.
#5.Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
#8..Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?
COKE
#1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
#2.You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.
#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the ‘real thing’ sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.
#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
#8… To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
#1the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.
#2.To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!
Now the question is…..would you like a glass of water??!!
