Kids Kitchen

A couple of weeks ago, I had the honor and privilege to accompany the founder and several people doing some teachings out to 2 out of 6 of the shelters for Kid’s Kitchen.

Kids Kitchen was started approximately 5 years ago when it was clear there was a big need for it.

Today, they are serving 700 kids a day lunch, five days a week.

Learning

The children are ages 3 to 13 and are either orphaned or have parents who cannot provide for them.  Some of them are looking after a younger sibling on top.

For many, this is the first meal of the day.  For others, it is their only meal.

Yet, as you will see in the photos, many still had smiles to give and still had that childlike sense of wonder.

In addition to extreme poverty, this area also has the highest rate of kidney disease of unknown origin in the world. The disease develops in early childhood. On average two will die of the disease every month and most who die are in their twenties and thirties with some even younger. Chronic malnutrition and in childhood is one risk factor for the disease.

I also got to visit the land that is being cleared so food can start to be planted to be more self sufficient and cut costs.

They have just created a logo and a Facebook page as more people step in to help.

It takes a community to raise a child and no child should be going hungry or worrying about where their next meal is coming from, but unfortunately some do!

Speaking of costs, yes, that is the reason of this post.

It is a fund raiser to help off set costs of feeding 700 kids five days a week.

One week of food is approximately $17 000p which is $870. us

Which is $68 000p or $3470.00 us a month.

This is where you can help.  I created an ebook that truly brought me joy, and I wanted to be able to help so that more joy could be brought to the kids.  At the time of this post Christmas is coming and it would be awesome to be able to raise  funds through my ebook to help the kids have food but possibly some more food or fun at Christmas.

Thru the Lens of ICM Photography is a Different Perspective is an ebook with ICM Photography and thoughts.  It is by donation, so whatever amount you can give or want to, from the heart.
