It’s Been a Year!!

It’s Been a Year!!

What a Year!!

Wow – It’s been a year!!

It was 1 year ago today I arrived in Mexico to do my first out of the country house sit.

https://jodiburke.com

Vancouver, BC

I took the red eye out of Vancouver leaving behind snow and ice – first time I saw snow stay in Vancouver for more than a day or two – little did I know at that time the snow would only continue coming big time over the next few months.

https://jodiburke.com

Mexico

Within my first 10 days of arriving in Mexico I had my birthday, had to put my dog down – while my best friend and father of my kids held the phone so I could talk to Spirit as he transition, then next my relationship of over 21/2 years came to an abrupt end.

https://jodiburke.com

Spirit

It was like my Soul wanted growth with no distractions – I didn’t know a soul in Mexico, couldn’t speak the language and had a little dog and cat to look after.

Fast forward a year now and the growth, healing, experiences, people I’ve met, things I’ve done, the programming and ways of being and earning an income that I’ve let go of was nothing I was thinking was going to happen when I came to Mexico – yet I was open to new experiences………I need to be really clear from now on! 🙂

I realized I truly wasn’t on the right path……I still had deeper work to do, experiences to experience on my own, people to meet, projects to start and reignite, places to see and photograph, journeys to take and to become more aware of energies and programs I was still running that weren’t serving me.

https://jodiburke.com

Havana, Cuba

I went to Cuba and walked over 100 miles in less than 8 days and have over 2000 images that I shot while there.  I did Yoga teacher training, spent many hours doing Yoga and walking the beach meditating, participated in Temezcals (Mexican Sweat Lodges), created a Why We do Yoga book with over 60 Yogis on Amazon and did a lot of soul searching on my own.

www.whywedoyoga.com

Why We do Yoga – on my blog & Amazon

In sharing all of that I want to extend a huge shout out to my friends that held space for me to process things and emotions – you know who you are, I am so eternally grateful and I love you!! Also had some amazing healers that helped me move thru things much faster – I love Energy Healing Modalities – all I can say is they work and work well.  Alina and Kare did Emotion code with me – you can find out more about it here or watch the documentary E-motion.  Neither has a website up yet but if you want to experience a session reach out to me and I can give you their contact info – they are both amazing!.  I did a Soul Retrevial with Jodi Parker who is someone I adore as she walks her talk and is very good at what she does –which is several things but you have to experience one of her sessions! Her site is Higher Living Journey.  Another person who I adore and is also very gifted at what she does is Sandra Wagman Sargeant – she has been reading for me for years and her readings are usually bang on! You can find out more about her and her readings at Readings with a Twist . All ladies work with anyone anywhere – love technology!!

Wow what a year it’s been.

No it was not always fun – but yet oh so worth it!!!

I also have had many amazing moments as well!!

https://jodiburke.com

Sunshine Coast, BC

And I just got back from spending 6 weeks in Canada – not the right time of year I agree but it’s how timing works sometimes.  I did some photo shoots for friends, my project, learn to connect with Spirit (no not my dog 🙂 but he did come in), saw many dear people (alive :)), released more of my stuff to truly becoming a nomad (and sad to say some people too yet it’s all good) – that happens when you just are not vibrating at the same level any longer.

It was cold oh so cold for me which makes me appreciate being back in Mexico even more so despite it being cold here right now  too – it’s still warmer than Canada!! Lol

And I just started another house sitting gig with my original person – now it’s not 1 dog and cat it’s 3 adorable little dogs.

I feel so blessed to what has happened, is happening and what is coming in 2018.

Greens & Superfoods!!!

Health and eating healthy will always be important to me, and I will always share as I do believe in superfoods (as you will see on my blog), live foods and more.  I had the privilege of photographing Troy and Sharon with their domes and towers and I am getting some towers – I think everyone could use these towers – we need to be growing our own foods!!  The info and link will be on my site soon if you want or know you should be growing your own food too!!

https://jodiburke.com

Growing Towers for Nutrient Dense Foods!

I’ve also dived into the crypto world big time – I have had Bitcoin for a couple of years and got educated on that big time but sat back – now I’ve jumped in much stronger and also highly encourage others to do so too!!  Reach out if you have questions or don’t know where to begin!

Living outside the box is more important to me than ever before.  My time in Canada and USA re-enforced that.  The stress I see people under, the prices, the politics and more.

For me that is not truly living my highest potential – as that is not my path.

What is calling me more than ever, what is truly wanting to be expressed now is a deepening within my own self to my true potential of living life to the fullest and one of those things is expressing the creativity from within that I’ve kept hidden for a long time and breaking free from self limiting programming especially around emotional eating.  I have always had a love for photography yet I put down my camera for many years – doesn’t matter now why but I did – and as you can see I have no ‘niche’ I enjoy capturing many moments……….just wait!! 🙂

What are Your Intentions?

2018 is going to be an amazing year.

I took a break from doing any posts as I was busy in Canada but also becoming much clearer on where I am headed and putting the final touches on my 21 Day Food & You program, with one more project in the works before I really dive back into the Raw, Naked and Beautiful project.

www.rawnakedandbeautiful.com

Raw, Naked & Beautiful – Real, Authentic & Whole

I know adventure, health, quantum physics, self love, art and photography are part of 2018 – and what I do love is working wherever I am as being the Sagg that I am my freedom is what is important to me.

How is 2018 looking for you?

Life is too short to be doing anything that does not bring you true joy and happiness.

We do create our lives – even when the shit hits the fan – it helps to show us who we aren’t or what no longer aligns with our true being – so take it as an opportunity for growth not to play the victim.

Thank you for stopping by, feel free to reach out with any questions or share this post!!

David aka Sunwolf

Just wanted to update you on where David and I are on their road trip!

Wow the last couple of weeks have been busy, have had some great things happening, met some amazing people, and am seeing how the weather is in Florida in the summer – lets say it’s hot and a storm almost every day due to such humidity so the lightening shows have been amazing!!

https://jodiburke.com

We have also had some personal things go on that have not been pleasant like getting news of a friend passing rather suddenly and a few other things that knock the wind out of you even though they are part of life – not the pleasant part.

https://jodiburke.com

Yoga on the Beach

We have been on a road trip for a month now, very little internet and no data on my phone – being Canadian down in the USA I just refuse to pay a big cell phone bill – so I can’t go on the internet as often and it’s made me realize how much I did go on the internet and Facebook and wasted time.  I’ve also found a phone that is coming out soon that I can’t wait to share – 5G, in 122 countries that has unlimited talk, text and roaming plus 52 gigs of data a month all for $49………..I love disruptors and being a forward thinker!!

Taking time daily to nurture self and diving into yoga deeper (wearing the Firma Wear I just started carrying and I love love this clothing line!!

We were also at the Purium convention in early August in Orlando.  To be honest I am not a big convention person personally – too many people and usually too much hype and bling type of shows which I’m just not into yet this was different.  I have always loved Purium and the products – live, organic and non-gmo greens and superfoods which are so needed today (I will go into more later on what sets these products a part because there is a huge difference).  Yet to hear that they are now switching (or will be as containers run out) to totally biodegradable packaging that is made from hemp, bamboo and tree resin as well as the little sample packs made my heart sing – a totally conscious company.  Not to mention that in April at David Sandoval’s oasis there will be an Unconventional open to the public that really is of this tribe and to vendors who want to do healing work, sell their goods (no competition with Purium of course) and join in the fun – now how cool is that??

We’ve been spending time either at David’s mom’s place or my dad’s winter place both without internet  – so the clubhouses have them, it’s not bad sitting by the pool side let me tell you!! Yet it’s just not as convenient – but if that is the only issue I am so fine with that!

https://jodiburke.com

We have caught sunrises at the beach, talked with a 97 year old man who’s reading books on how to live over 100 years – his secret – NO sugar or processed foods, daily sardines, plant based way of eating with meat once a month, 6 almonds, 1 cashew and 1 walnut daily plus he walks twice a day about 2 miles each time and has a wonderful attitude!!

https://jodiburke.com

Have sampled a few different beaches on the East Coast and the Gulf side of Florida – stopping by health food stores and having some great conversations with healthy like minded individuals.  Attended some talks, found an amazing conscious, organic and non-gmo restaurant that had delicious food and ambience – I share that as we seldom go out to eat – while travelling most places to stop for food or restaurants are just crap – it’s really not food and we’re so used to creating our own dishes even while travelling and doing picnics we are actually spoiled now.

There really is such a huge difference between eating and feeding the body that once you are doing it you can never go back!!

Also because of some of the curve balls that have been thrown at us lately – deepening our relationship, our communication and really supporting one another through a few difficult times has been an incredible journey as well.

This time with little internet has let me dive deeper into me, my dreams, my fears, my goals, etc and what has been holding me back from truly creatively expressing who I am.

Dove into a great book and have to share it, it’s title is ‘When Did You Die?’ and you can read a free chapter here at www.Templeahyes.com – the book was a gift for David but I truly believe it was for me and now can’t wait to meet Temple – what an incredible lady!!

The reality is for me I now realize is that life is short, life is precious and we are not meant to struggle – if you are not loving what you are doing you have choice choose something else and choose it fast why waste your time – trading each minute, hour and day living a lie, doing things you don’t like doing, being miserable, hating life or people or what you are doing and needing to numb yourself through food, alcohol, drugs or anything else.

Life is getting me high – between eating clean and pure, digging up the roots that took me down a path of self destruction through an eating disorder and with it partying in my earlier years I lost a big part of me and never felt good enough……..not any longer……for the first time in my life I am actually connecting with my heart and true source.

I look forward to sharing more.

https://jodiburke.com

I also look forward to catching up with some women in the near future and continuing on with my project – the world needs us all to shine our light – are you ready??

2014 Thoughts

2014 Thoughts

https://jodiburke.com

Stanley Park

2014 was a very interesting year for me.  I had many experiences this year – ALL about growth, not always fun but reflecting back ooooh so worth it!!.  If we are not stretching ourselves and growing / expanding then decay, death, aging, limitation set in.  Some were hard, a few even painful lessons but many more lessons and experiences were amazing.  I had to let some people go in my life and guess what? New, more healthy, conscious people came into my life to help me further on my path that I strayed from and because of that even more amazing things have been happening.

As the last few hours of 2014 are upon us – take some time to reflect over the past year and set clear intentions on what you would like to experience, create, feel, allow in in 2015 – YOU are the creator of your life – live it to the fullest in ALL areas!!

May Love, Health, Happiness and Abundance be in your world today and always!!!

Thank you for stopping by and being here!!

Much Love

Healthy Eating Made Easy

I will admit – I put my head in the same for quite awhile as life is busy and there is so much information out there on what to eat, not eat, what’s really healthy or natural and so on that it can be overwhelming – or so I thought.  Now GMO’s too? Seriously?

GMO’s have been around for about 30 years – so it’s nothing new BUT we do need to educate ourselves and if you take the time and watch the 17 minute trailer you will know why!

We are on a mission to educate and share – eating natural, real whole foods , healthy eating should be easy – we should  NOT be science experiments especially our kids – so I highly urge you to at least watch the trailer and decide for yourself!

Plum Salsa

One of the great things with summer is all the fresh foods and the wonderful friends that share with you!!  I had a dear friend share a bunch of plums with me this past week and after eating some I had to create something different – I was pleasantly surprised and got good feedback from the friends that tried it.

Another easy and tasty dish that makes eating healthy easy.  totally vegan almost raw, if you decide to leave out the black beans then it is raw!!

Plum Salsa

–  4 small Cucumbers

–  1 cup finely chopped Cilantro

–  juice of 1 Lime

–  ½ Jalapeno pepper finely chopped

–  ½ finely chopped purple Onion

–  1 Red Pepper finely chopped

–  ¾ tsp Himalayan Sea salt (adjust to taste)

–  1 can Black Beans drained

–  pinch Cayenne Pepper (optional)

Raw Tacos

Love the summer months when everything is fresh and easy to eat more raw foods, more vegan foods and it tastes even better as most of it can be grown in your area – yummy!!

I love this recipe – and it can be changed up a few different ways, but here is one to get you started. This recipe is pretty quick and easy and of course tasty too – don’t be afraid to adjust amounts of things for your taste or add in some different herbs or spices.

Taco Filling

–    1 cup raw Walnuts

–    ½ cup fresh Parsley

–    1 tbsp Braggs or Tamari

–     1/2 cup fresh Cilantro (if you really don’t like Cilantro use Parsley)

–      juice of 1/2 Lemon

–       1 minced Garlic clove

https://jodiburke.com

Raw Tacos

Throw all ingredients into a food processor and process until desired consistency (you can leave it rather chunky or more smooth which just needs more processing – I usually go in the middle somewhere so there is a little bit of chunks of nut)

For these tacos I used the outer (as they are usually bigger) of Green Cabbage leaves

I chopped up some extra Cilantro, chopped Tomatoes, sliced Avocados, added a little Hot Sauce and topped with Alfalfa Sprouts and rolled it up.

Healthy eating doesn’t get much easier – enjoy!

Cashew Whip

Cashew Whip

https://jodiburke.com

This is one of my favorite things to eat.  I have a smoothie almost every morning but when I don’t this is the next best thing.

It’s easy and quick to make, tasty and will keep for several days in the fridge.

I add in some raw granola that I make (recipe to follow soon – I just make it and need to really get the measurements down clearly :)) but it’s just as tasty with just fruit!!

https://jodiburke.com

For anyone who kind of, sort of misses whip cream (the dairy kind) this is a great substitute – it’s raw, it’s vegan and has protein!!

https://jodiburke.com

–  1 cup Raw Cashews (if the nuts whether in a package or bulk don’t say raw, then they aren’t, and it will make a difference, and will probably be heated some how and flavors maybe added)

soak for at least 15 mins but you don’t have to, this will make the cashews softer

–  1 tsp Vanilla

– 1-2 tbsp sweetner Agave, Honey (not Vegan) Brown Rice Syrup, (depending on how sweet you like it)

–  4 ice cubes (only use if you want to eat it right away it makes it cooler)

Start with 1/4 cup water

Throw all ingredients into the Vitamix or blender and start blending.  You will need to add more water until desired consistency.  I don’t like mine too runny but not too thick either.  It’s not as fluffy as whip cream but it’s so much tastier and healthier!!  These little differences can make eating healthy so much easier – in more ways than one!!

Cut up some fruit in a bowl and pour over top – and enjoy!!  Add some cereal or nuts or hemp if you like!!

Thanks for stopping by and please feel free to share this.

Always greatly appreciated!!

Have an awesome day

Raw Popcorn

Raw Popcorn

 https://jodiburke.com

What the heck – raw popcorn??

It’s probably not what you think!!

One of the things I do love is popcorn especially with a really good movie – which I don’t do often so it’s a treat.  I always make sure its Organic so it’s non-gmo as corn is high on that list.

This though is a really good, nutritious and tasty treat substituting for popcorn that lets face it is just totally healthier period.   It’s raw (not everyone agrees on nutritional yeast being raw) but totally vegan and gluten free for sure!!

https://jodiburke.com

When I used to go to the movies at a theatre it was a big treat for me to get popcorn and I would get a large and eat it myself – yes I do love popcorn!! Since cleaning up my way of eating, the last time I went to a real movie theatre and ate popcorn I felt it for 2 days in my system and felt horrible – bloated and just yucky – I seem to be more sensitive to chemical crap since cleaning things up lesson learned!!

My daughter came home this past winter after being at the movies and a couple of days later said the same thing to me – I try hard not to inflict my judgments on my kids so it was kind of neat to hear her say that and that she wouldn’t be eating popcorn at the movies again – which she hasn’t and she loves popcorn as much as I do!!

If you love popcorn too hope you enjoy this way – you may not the first time but it does grow on you!!

Raw Popcorn

Raw Popcorn

–  1 head Cauliflower chopped into small pieces

–  Himalayan Sea Salt

–  1 – 11/2 tbsp Nutritional Yeast (good for B vit’s and found in health Food Stores and a lot of grocery stores now)

– 1 tsp Spirulina (optional) Purium’s Spirulina

Put cut up cauliflower into a big zip lock bag and add in sea salt, nutritional yeast and spirulina (optional) shake till well coated.

Both are shown in the bag here – one with Spirulina and one without it.

Raw Popcorn

Put into a bowl and grab a cool drink and a good movie, eat and enjoy!!

It’s also a very good snacking treat if you are needing a mid afternoon snack or too busy working – will keep in fridge for a couple of days in sealed bag as well!!

Raw Creamy Basil Sauce

Raw Creamy Basil  Sauce

with Raw Noodles too

https://jodiburke.com

If you are wondering about having to give up some favorite foods or comfort foods – no need to worry any longer!!

This Raw Creamy Basil  Sauce will help!!  It is totally vegan, raw which means it’s live!!

Every time I make a dish like this I can’t believe how filling, yet satisfying it is and it’s still healthy and raw – how cool is that??

And again easy, quick and tasty – even better.

The one tool you will need is called a Spiralizer – yes sold on Amazon (no affiliate link) or by now easily available in your local health store possibly grocery store (depending maybe Whole Foods).

Basil Alfredo (1 of 1)

There are other kitchen tools that will create a pasta like noodle so if you have something else that works awesome!

One Zucchini, a good size one is enough for two good servings. It creates a fair amount of noodles – some long and some short.  I have found since using Zucchini for noodles I could never go back and eat pasta especially with the after effects! 🙂

Basil Alfredo (1 of 1)-4

Raw Creamy Basil Sauce

–  1 cup Cashews

–  juice of 1/2 Lemon

–  pinch Himalayan Sea Salt

– fresh ground Pepper (optional)

–  2 cloves Garlic

– approx 6- 7 bigger Basil Leaves (more if you prefer)

–  1/2 – 1 cup Water

Through all ingredients in Vita mix or Blender with about 1/4 cup water, slowly adding more water until the desire consistency you prefer is met (more water will create a thinner sauce, less water it will be thicker)

https://jodiburke.com

Finely chop 2- 4 basil leaves and stir into the mixture or add in and pulse lightly once or twice.

Pour the sauce over the noodles and enjoy.

If everything comes right out of the fridge it will be colder, you can leave things out for a little bit to get more of a room temp.

Please feel free to share this recipe – it’s always greatly appreciated!!

Green Dip / Spread

Green Dip / Spread

 https://jodiburke.com

Where I started with this recipe and where I ended up truly surprised me but in a very good way!

I love surprises especially when they taste good! 🙂

That is what is fun or cool when you are using fresh, real ingredients – don’t be afraid to explore or if it’s not as tasty to your liking add a little something here or there or a little more.

And Green – kind of bright but oh so healthy and tasty making healthy eating or eating healthy easy!!

This is a Vegan, Gluten free and basically Raw recipe (Nutritional yeast may not be considered ‘raw’)

https://jodiburke.com

What I found with this is I used it as a dip and as a filling – both worked well

https://jodiburke.com

Recipe

https://jodiburke.com

–  1 cup Cashews – soaked for about an hour or longer (this helps to softens them, if you don’t have the time for this it’s not totally necessary)

– 1 clove Garlic

–  juice of 1 Lemon

–  Salt to taste

– 1 tbsp Nutritional Yeast

–  1/2 – 3/4 cup Water (less for a thicker dip or more water for more of a sauce type)

–  1 tsp Greens (Purium’s Power of 10 Veggie) – this is optional, it tastes good without it but this does add flavor and tons of nutrition easily

Put all ingredients into a Vitamix or blender and blend until smooth

Add in Spinach – for this recipe I added in a small container full of Spinach – you can leave some till the end and finely chop the spinach for a more textured dip.

Add in Dill – I used approximately 3 tbsp of fresh dill.

Blend until smooth or desired consistency is achieved.

Once I got the consistency I wanted I added in a small (my hands are small :)) handful of Cashews and lightly blended giving the dip some texture but this is not necessary.

If you want to have more dill flavor or just some herb showing, finely chop Dill and stir in at the last moment.

You can use it as a dip for lots of veggies or crackers.

https://jodiburke.com

Great for stuffing Mushrooms, celery or anything else!!

Would love your feedback and please feel free to share this – it is greatly appreciated!!!

Have a fantastic day!!
