While in Cuba I had the chance to photograph people.  Some I just ran into, some I met, some took me on a little tour and some got to see me for several days in a row so al little trust or friendship built even though there was a language barrier.

It seems people in Cuba have had a hard life for the most part.

This women would cover her face with a fan if you tried taking her photo and not paying her – notice her one arm – I saw this with a few people.

What I found interesting is many smoke – even women with cigars, drank espressos, and were up very early!!!

They were playing great music in this restaurant and this guy was dancing up a storm in the street – loved that I took his picture!

Psychic taking a break between clients in Old Havana outside an expensive restaurant.

Food was not of great quality and usually the same choices just dressed little different.
Much pork, some chicken and fish and almost always fried.

The homes in the older districts of Havana and the Cienfuego that we were in had very different old housing – doors whittling hallways leading to a place olive with maybe a little patio, most people sat out on their front steps.
As you can see many had smiles – even the ones living in much poverty – you wouldn’t know it by their smile!!

3 Guys from Cienfuego

These guys were honoured to pose for me after I was on the local street at the cafe for 3 mornings in a row – it took a little time to warm up!
I am fascinated with people from different places and how people each live their lives – so much opened my eyes up on this trip!

Gentleman in Cienfuego

We were walking the main street one night and many doors to people’s places were open – this one had a beautiful hall with beautiful furniture so we went back the next day and got caught peeking through – he was very nice though and shared some stories with us as an old Dr used to live there!
I could go on – I have more photos as I found most Cuban’s really liked having their photo taken!!
It was fun!!
Thanks for stopping by
Jodi
