Raw / Vegan Green Soup

If after the holidays you are left feeling sluggish, a little heavy feeling, maybe a few extra pounds on as well, then this you may like.
I also know after the holidays of some over indulgents this may also seem boring, but you and your body will love you for it!!
It’s easy to make, quick, simple, healthy, tasty, nutritious , full of enzymes, vitamins and nutrients, and will help you lose that sluggish, tired and feeling a little full feeling!!

Great for lunches, light dinners or even a snack.

Green Soup

–  Big Handful of Organic (if possible) Spinach

–  1 chopped up Carrot

–  1 chopped up Celery stick

– 1 clove of Garlic

–  juice of 1/2 Lime (or Lemon)

– 1/2 cup Parsley

– sea salt to taste

–  1/2 Avocado

–  3/4 cup Water

Throw all ingredients into your Vitamix or blender and blend until smooth.  For more of a creaminess you can add the whole Avocado or cut back a little on the water, if you want it thinner add a little more water.

This is a guideline, but you can throw any vegetable in, but you want lots of greens….spinach , kale, collards etc and herbs….use any that you like.  Garlic and salt adjust to your liking……just don’t use table salt!!

If you want it warm, you can slight warm it on the stove, BUT do NOT heat it or boil it as it will kill all the nutrients, enzymes, vitamins and minerals.  We are programmed to eat HOT foods or think we need them and I know at times living in the rainforest here that I want warming foods……add spices like cumin, chili peppers etc to warm you up inside.

Experiment with the flavors and if you are needing to chew, when you’ve got the soup to how you like it, throw in a few veggies and just pulse for a min or two so you will have a chunky soup or have some crackers with it.

So 2012 is now here…….did you have a great New Years? Did you set any New Years Resolutions or Intentions?

Yes I know I am a little behind, I had full intentions of getting this out earlier but we had a death in the family New Years day and I have been doing some thinking about life and living since then.

Every year it seems most of us set resolutions or goals……they have a list of the most favorite top 10 NY’s Resolutions……you know…quitting smoking, lose weight, get into better shape, make more money, work less, spend more time with family, tame the bulge……. but by March we are back where we once were, resolutions forgotten. Now, we made them with good intentions, or maybe after a few glasses of bubbly….so what is the trick?


Life is too short not to be living the way we want to be. Set your intentions…….be very clear on what you want, the more clarity the better. write it out, see it, feel it and believe it. For instance, lets say you want to lose weight…..don’t just say I want to lose weight or even 10 lbs……yes you can say I want to lose 10 lbs, but how will that feel, what will you look like? Will you feel and look healthy, alive more vibrant? Then picture that. Create a dream board with photos on it or with one of the new phones you can record you goal….get detailed about you will feel and listen it to every day especially when you are feeling weak or want to give up.
Clear intentions……..I know I have set mine out, wrote it out and even voice recorded mine so I can listen to it every day… I want to make every day count……isn’t that what’s life all about??

The Challenge…….

Have you been hearing about The 90 Day Challenge lately?

If you have, you are probably wondering if it works or another hype up magic potion……NOT!!
If you haven’t, well you’re at the right place.

I have been doing The Challenge for the past couple of months and have just decided to re-start my Challenge this week…..why? I wanted to raise the bar. After being part of the Challenge, I feel great, that was my goal when starting as I was pretty healthy outside of my low iron. Now I want to take it to another level of all areas of my life, but especially my fitness levels and getting back into great shape. I have let that go over the past few years of not really working out much…..well like I used to anyways.
The people that have been joining me in the Challenge are blowing me away with the results they are getting too!!
The biggest converter has been my husband…… you know we’ve always have made shakes in the morning, tried many powders over the years and then just greens.  These shakes taste amazing with many different recipes. My husband, after a couple of weeks on the shakes came home one day and said……’You know, I have been feeling so much better lately, happier, more energized at work like never before and the only thing we’re doing different are the shakes… it must be them, can I take another one with me for my break in the morning as they are really good.’ Which really caught my attention as he conveniently would forget his Green Smoothie occasionally or not drink it all in the past but not now!!!
I’ve personally found the Body By Vi Challenge to target FAT, and leave the MUSCLE. So even though we were making shakes before they didn’t have the same level of nutrition and ingredients that Body By Vi and ViSalus had.
And that has been key for us……..nutrition……..we need more of it these days as the daily stressors we encounter in our activities far outweigh what our ancestors went through in their lifetime!!!
The neatest thing I am seeing so far,is  how this is having a domino affect on people, they add a shake to their way of eating or not really eating especially in the morning, which mostly consists of adding fruit, so people are now eating fruit, or simply even having breakfast  that isn’t full of caffeine, sugar and empty fillers. Then because they are feeling better and have more energy are making better food choices throughout the day, then also starting to find a form of exercise even if it’s walking after work for 30 mins.
So, is it all hype?? No, these products work and people are making changes and getting results……that is what the buzz is about and this is a good thing.
Obesity, diabetes and heart disease are serious matters, The Body by Vi – 90 Day Challenge is making a difference a HUGE difference in that and I love being part of that!!!

Oh yeah, it could be all the prizes they give away now for people who commit and make transformations in their lives, what great incentives… much so they are giving away $10 Million in FREE product and prizes……..just for losing weight and getting into better shape……maybe that is why over 41 000 joined last month!!

Letting Go



Letting Go

Ahhhh summer is officially here…..finally!!!  How was your long weekend?? Ours was great.  I hope you really enjoyed yourself as that is what life is about each and every day.

How many of you went camping or to family gatherings, picnics, beaches, etc?  Usually on these long weekends, especially when the weather is nice and we can be outside we are eating things we don’t normally eat…..potato salad, macaroni salads, burgers, hot dogs, and so on…….I hope you did and I hope you enjoyed it.

Really I do!!!!

I also hope that you are not feeling guilty over what you ate, didn’t eat, drank or should have eaten.  Life is too short for that.  Don’t get me wrong, I always encourage to eat healthy, but here’s how I look at it, we are only here for a little while, we have to have some fun along the way too, if that means you’re at a family picnic or gathering as an example where you know the food won’t be the best, you have a couple of options……take something that is healthy and eat more of that, or relax and go with the flow for the time being.  Not saying you should do that every day or all the time, but once in awhile is more than ok.

Remember our thoughts are powerful.  If you are feeling guilty, or beating yourself up over what you did eat or what you should have eaten instead……you are doing more damage to yourself.  It’s over with, let it go.   Make better choices next time.  How can you do that? By loving yourself anyways, right here and now, making a better choice today, that with each today and tomorrow will only get better if that is what you focus on.  If you keep focusing on what you should have done, or feeling guilty or beating yourself up, you will probably always come up short handed.

Acknowledge the good things no matter how small they are in what you are doing and who you are.  They can only then get bigger and better.

Also, EFT is a great tool for letting go of those negative,unwanted emotions, which stem from our thoughts.  Whether that be with dealing with eating, ourselves, life or business.

Being Present

Being Present

I have been thinking lately about how many people really aren’t present when they are eating.
I know quite a few as I watch people and they usually aren’t present in their daily activities.

How many times have you eaten in front of the tv (as a daily or almost daily activity)?
Or in front of the computer?
How often have you eaten and have eaten so fast you haven’t even tasted the food or really know what
you were eating?
Or you ate so fast and went back for more as you were still hungry and then way too full after the second helping?

How many times do you eat out in a fast food restaurant, food court or a busy restaurant that are noisy too? (fast paced therefore you end of eating fast too)

How many times have you gone and gotten your nails done or hair, or a lube, filter and oil change on your nice shiny
vehicle then stopped off at McDonald’s on the way home eating while you are driving?

So, let’s be honest here, were you really present while you were eating?
That means tasting each mouthful, chewing it many times, putting the fork down between bites and not doing anything else (even barely talking)……savoring the taste, the moment, the food and your body.

I used to be a pro at multi tasking……..I was a waitress and single mom, how many meals do you think I ate on my feet? Or while nursing, talking on the phone and doing something else too!!!!??
Probably too many!!
Sit down, relax, turn the tv or computer off and enjoy your food. Have a family sit down dinner night and talk to one another.
Not only is this for eating, but what about relationships and business…….we will go there more in the next few posts!

Hi Everyone

You have probably wondered what happened to me and this blog as it’s been a little while and I apologize for that.

Sometimes we start heading down one path in life and it seems to work for a little while or it is a stepping stone to something better. For me, that has been part of my journey, because I have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, especially of personal development, health, well being, emotional, financial and spiritual, I take what I need at the moment and move on. Sometimes I go back, as the timing is right for the next part and sometimes I don’t, but I am constantly moving forward. Is there really a right or wrong way of doing things? Only if they aren’t producing the results that you would like in your life……in any area!!
Which brings me to the tweaking of my blog. I had been making some changes in my life due to being borderline anemic, my supplementing (and lack of it) what I was doing for my source of income allowing me to fully express, succeed (as an entrepreneur) the way I wanted and needed to, allowing in true health in all forms.
Life is never boring if we grow and challenge ourselves.
I took a bit of break to get healthy, clearer, refocused, committed, excited and moving forward.
Being healthy is so much more than eating and food and I wanted to be able to really talk about all things here that take us from surviving to thriving in all areas of our lives.
I will still be adding healthy recipes but it’s oh so much more than just food!!

You can watch a short video on how to make this quick, easy, tasty and healthy dish or just scroll down below and get the recipe and do it your way, either way enjoy!!!

– 1 cup Pecans or Walnuts
– 4- 6 Madjool Dates ( or raisins approx 1/4 cup)
can adjust for sweetness
Put into processor and blend up till crumbly. What is left over (if any) can be stored in a container and kept in the fridge.

Cut up 1 apple in a bowl (or several if more than one person) and sprinkle nut mixture over top.
Eat and enjoy!!!

The Challenge

The 90 Day Challenge

There comes a point in one’s live, or I can only speak for myself ……..when I look at things and see what is working or what is not, what needs changing, tweaking or eliminating.  You know the saying……keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll keep getting what you’ve got or you keep doing what you’re doing but expecting different results!!!!

Part of living, I believe anyways is about challenging oneself to do or be better.  Since learning my iron was low and taking the steps to turn that around, I am feeling oh so much better, my energy is coming back and I love that!!!  Also a few extra pounds since I did spend a fair bit of time on the couch……….and if anyone saw my video, I have more jiggle to my wiggle…..if you know what I mean…….and that made my friend giggle……..Ok I will stop!!!

Anyways, it is feeling finally like spring time here, so it’s a good time to start this challenge and I encourage anyone who may want to join me on this 90 Day Challenge to do so as so many people have already benefited from this…….feeling and looking better and losing weight.  For me it’s more than that, it spills over in so many other areas of one’s life, it’s like it’s a domino effect……when you start feeling better, you start looking better, then acting better (usually anyways), doing better and so on.  For me life is about creating new experiences, meeting new people, feeling and being healthy,  inspiring people to be the best they can be and when we feel and look good, that is done so much easier.

So……..I got started yesterday, my goal is to lose 10 lbs, tone up, get back into shape by exercising and creating and posting many new recipes to also help in the transition.  I did get on the scales……. something I haven’t done in a long time as before numbers used to play with my mind, but my pants were tight and I was prepared to see it, and you know what, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.  I am where I am and that is ok, as I am excited at where I am going and the changes I am going to see!!!

When I am done the 90 Days I will post my before and after photo, yup took a picture of me in my bathing suit and took my measurements……..only one area that I don’t need to lose anything weight off of and that is my chest!!!

I’ve gathered a few friends to do this with and there are also new friends I am meeting that are part of this, there are so many people looking to look and feel better with results and a community.  So if this is something that may interest come join us as we all shed some weight, get into shape and have some fun, and oh stick around for some good recipes too!!!

I will keep you posted on my progress and I would also love to hear from anyone who is creating results too!!!

Why I Dropped the Raw……

Well ok, not completely. If you haven’t noticed I have changed from Healthy and Raw to just Life with Jodi. I wanted to be able to share more with you than just raw dishes. Sometimes it could be vegan or healthy thoughts or healthy being instead of all food.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love food, I love healthy food, creating healthy dishes, but, and I am going to be honest here, I am not 100% raw for a bit.  I’m not sure if anyone really is, what I do know, for me personally, with my history of when I was younger having disordered eating, that being too restrictive does not work for me. Maybe you are considering that or are aware of that for you? Don’t get me wrong, now I believe that we all could improve our eating and or be adding in more live foods, but sometimes at what cost?
By that, I mean, if you are feeling deprived, or restricted in any way, feeling guilty about eating something that is not raw or as healthy as it could be or eating something you really hate just because it’s healthy when really you want to be eating something else…… much fun is that not too mention what it can do to us emotionally? We all know that our body and minds are connected right? And if you’re hating every mouthful you are taking, well the body will respond and not well over time.
Please don’t take that as it’s ok to eat all the potato chips or junk you want, but I am really learning for me that what may work really well for me, my body, my lifestyle may not work as well for you.   but one must listen to their bodies, themselves and how they are living to be able to do what is best for them.
Some people really want or need to eat meat for example, so in that case, maybe try buying as much organic as possible and still maintain a good balance of fresh, raw live foods. Take it to the hunter’s and gather’s way of eating. Another person may love having some dairy in their diets and choose organic or raw there.
It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, whew, doesn’t that take the pressure off right there!!??
When we are in tune to our bodies, our thoughts and our emotions and have cleaned up the junk, you may be surprised at what your body does want……..most of the time.
So for today, let go of the restrictions, the guilt, the denial, the shame or anything else that isn’t for your best way of eating, being or living.
Be in the moment, Enjoy the day, Taste your Food and give a lot of Gratitude.
